Professor Chukwumerije Okereke is a Professor of Global Climate and Environmental Governance and Director of Center for Climate and Development at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Nigeria. Previously, he was a Professor of Environment and Development at the University of Reading where he also served as the Co-Director of Climate and Justice Centre and the Leverhulme Climate Justice Doctoral Scholarship Programme. 

A visiting fellow at Oxford University’s Environmental Change Institute (ECI), Professor Okereke was the head of the Technical Committee for the draft and passage of Nigeria’s Climate Change Act 2021. He has played and continues to play critical roles in championing climate change policy drafts and implementation in Nigeria and across Africa.
